PROGRAMS OFFERED

Our three programs are based upon certain principles:
*   the dignity and safety of all campers
*   the campers' right to have fun while being challenged to push their limits to  the
     highest possible achievable level
*   success oriented activity, with lots of hands on experiences, increases  individual self-
     confidence and self-worth

CADETS
Each year, young people who belong to the Canadian Cadet Movement are unable to attend their summer courses for varied reasons.  We invite those cadets to apply for our camps and, those selected, provide the integration factor which definitely helps make the camps more successful.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH PARTICIPATION
Peacekeeper Park is proud to be in partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Program for youths ages 14 to 25.  This is a self-development program available to all young people, equipping them with life skills that enable them to make a difference to themselves, their communities and their country.  While at Peacekeeper Park Adventure Camps, any campers who are interested in taking part in the DEA Program are encouraged to sign up.  This is a program that can be continued after leaving camp with follow-up visits from the DEA staff.

 EXPLORER PROGRAM
Our entrance program for first year campers is, for most, an introduction to community living and a sudden absence from the comfort and support of their parents and guardians.  For this reason, our staff-camper ratio is almost one to two and the first few days of the camp are critical to the individual having a successful experience.  Past campers are welcome to make the choice to return to the Explorers program before advancing to the Voyager program.

The camp curriculum is designed to be hands on and is organized in such a manner that, even in the sports activities, there are no losers, just winners.  The campers can elect to not participate in scheduled events but this rarely happens.  Activities for this initial program include canoeing, swimming (both in the lake and in the pool), sports, overnight bush camping in improvised shelters, campfires, environmental activities, cookouts, air rifle shooting, learning knots and lashings, rope bridges, fishing, traversing, hiking, arts and crafts, archery, abseiling and and introduction to maps and compasses through orienteering.  The campers live in tents with each tent group made up of four campers.  They are provided with an air mattress and a storage bin for their personal belongings.
This is a seven day program, presently limited to a maximum of 25 campers, that will run from the 9th of July through to the 15th of July this year.

VOYAGER PROGRAM
The Voyager program is similar to the Explorer program except that the activities move to a slightly higher level, the concept of leadership is introduced and practised, and the staff to camper ratio is slightly lower.  Our goal is to have some of these campers eventually become junior councillors and this camp is another step in that process.
This is a seven day program, presently limited to a maximum of 25 campers, that will run from the16th of July through to the 22nd of July this year.

LEADERS IN TRAINING (LIT) PROGRAM
We are proud to say that in 2005 we initiated the new LIT program aimed at former campers who are over the age of 15.  Previous campers attend this program through invitation only. Invitations will be extended to those campers who display the ability to take on a leadership role or a support role within the camp organization.  The program is two weeks in length and is designed to provide the campers with all of the practical skill enhancement of the adventure training from previous camps as well as preparing them, by learning leadership skills, to take a Level 5 Councellor or Support Staff role in following years.  The LIT program will run from the 8th to the 22nd of July this year.
